“I’ve learnt more in the last two days than I did in all the years I’ve been working on drains.”

05/17/2014NewsBy Ian Cameron

Gareth Leyland from Buxton Water passed the NADC Certified Drainage Surveyors course but we were really interested in how much he’d learned. His comment (above) brought a warm glow and a certain amount of pride to our sometimes jaded hearts.

There are 5 multi choice assessments and 1 defect interpretation exam, the attendees have to get at least 80% of the questions correct to pass. The course covers drainage law, misconnections, site investigation, defect interpretation, report creation, correct repair techniques and remedial recommendations. It was created by the WRC in conjunction with the EA and NADC. It is an EU Skills registered course.

Trevor Tyrie and Steve Carter from TT Drainage and Plumbing Services Ltd, Dave Brown of DrainDomain.com and Adam from Trafford Groundworks also attended the training event at XTI’s premises in Oldham. Everybody passed, everybody learnt something and it was a pleasure teaching these lads.

Our next course will be in Bristol at the end of the month and we are planning more courses in June for the Southampton area and Oldham once more.

We’ll get some pictures up soon!

I have been involved in all aspects of the drainage industry over the last thirty years. The majority of my experience has been with CCTV surveying but I also have an excellent knowledge of most things drainage. I also deliver CCTV training on behalf of the NADC as well as consultancy work.
