4. Section Headers: Detailed Header Entry
A section is one drain/sewer survey. Normally from manhole to manhole, but any survey from start node to finish node. A node can be a manhole, an inspection chamber, a branch connection etc.
The Detailed Header Entry opens after the Project Manager is saved the first time or when New Section is clicked. This is where you add the section to be surveyed details. As a minimum this requires a Start Reference (F123 for example) and a finish reference (F456 for example). There are a number of other fields that may be automatically populated (Location Road, Location Town, Client Details will be taken from the Project Manager fields).
There are four tabs within the Detailed Header Entry: Location, Details, Job and Overview. Each has a number of fields that can be filled in using dropdown lists or straight text entry. You can add as much or as little detail as you like. Remember that the data from the last Header Entry is passed through to the next Header Entry form. You can change anything at any time. The only thing that is not passed from Header to Header are the Start and Finish References. Overview allows you to add aditional data that appears in the report’s overview section. You can also check a box if there is evidence of a misconnection (for example where foul enters a surface water drain when the system is seperated).
The information fields used for Viewline’s detailed section headers is based on the Manual of Sewer Condition Classification, which in turn is based on BS EN 13508. This is the standard used throughout the drainage industry’s CCTV survey reporting arm.
Once a header has been created and saved you will see it as a section with a number (Section1, Section 2 etc) and a reduced number of fields. You can double click on it to open it up for editing. Or you can right click it to edit it, move it up or down, or add a new one.
