Viewline is a Windows application and will function correctly on any PC with a Windows OS from Win 7 upwards with Intel and AMD processors. There are no special requirements, most standard computers will operate Viewline 550 with no issue. However, we have noted a new generation of PCs use ARM (Snapdragon) processors, notably:
Microsoft Surface Pro X series: Surface Pro X (SQ1 and SQ2 variants), Surface Pro 9 with 5G (SQ3 processor)
Lenovo ThinkPad X13s
Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 5G
HP Elite Folio
Acer Spin 7 (SP714-61NA)
ASUS NovaGo TP370QL
HP Envy x2 (Snapdragon model)
Lenovo Flex 5G (also known as Yoga 5G in some markets)
Samsung Galaxy Book S (Snapdragon version)
Huawei MateBook E (2022 model)
Lenovo ThinkPad X13s Gen 2
There may be others. Windows on ARM devices like these can run both ARM-native apps and x86 (32-bit) apps through emulation. However, x64 (64-bit) app support is more limited. We are finding that Viewline struggles to run on some of these machines, so our recommendation is to use Viewline on a machine that does not have ARM architecture.
What happens:
We have identified a video playback limitation when running our software on PCs with ARM architecture processors. Users on ARM-based systems may experience the following:
- Program freezing after playing multiple videos
- Error messages related to VMR (Video Mixing Renderer)
- Inconsistent video playback performance
If you are currently using an ARM-based PC:
- Limit the number of consecutive video playbacks
- Close and restart the application between extended video viewing sessions
- Report any VMR-related errors to our support team
If you are planning to purchase new hardware:
- Consider Intel or AMD-based systems for optimal compatibility
- Consult with our technical support team before deploying on ARM-based systems
Next Steps: Our development team is actively investigating this issue. We will provide updates as we work on improving compatibility with ARM architecture.
